It's scientifically proper to demonstrate a wrong, by using documented proof.

Un joli barbet doit être rondhttp://www.pedigreedatabase.com/spanish_water_dog/dog.html?id=890542 et le poil doit être égalisé, mais cela ne peut se faire que sur un chien qui possède un bon poil,

Spanish Water Dogs.

When they have been remixed with poodles, they become very tall with very frizzy curls and are kept shaved. Why? Because thier coat is not groomable.
Because you always need a reference:
http://www.clubbarbetlagotto-chienseau.com/35603.htmlA Barbet is not a "round" barrel-like dog.
A Barbet cannot have "very tight" long curls or it would be a Spanish Water Dog, which historically, since the writing of the standard for a Griffon Barbet, it has been prouven it is not. The Spanish Water dog is not a gun dog.
They do have in common that they are "water-dogs".
Then:
All the grooming freaks who believe in washing a Barbet once a week and poofing it out like diminutive "Poodles" or Bichons, as I have heard and seen some, would have a hard time. How would they get those long tight curls back???
That is certainly proof that some have not read the standard for the Barbet!
Then reread the SWD standard: the size of the dog...short and barrel-like!
