Families, families families envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 28/01/2012 @ 09:39
Back to serious work, for this summer's symposium on the breed!
Since I asked for it, and got it: I need to be ready, wouldn't you say?

I am working on families of dogs by size. Males at 54 55; males at 58, males at 60 and more. VERY interesting to notice that the taller the dog, the shorter the..tail. No crochet possible!

If you have any good photos, I would apprecaite them. I have shamelessly been taking them off sites, because I can't wait for a long time. There's a lot of work to be done.

A frizzy, bushy coat IS an absolute nightmare. envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 26/01/2012 @ 20:37

The older they get, depending on which coat they inherited from who, yes, it can get easier to groom. I agree! Tools needed are posted.

Old Barbet colors: a recipe? envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 26/01/2012 @ 18:51

Aurinko, who lives in Switzerland, is the daughter of Bliss von der Leibrücke, my friends who are always the lucky one first and foremost before others! Bliss is the daughter of CH-Compay II, so grand-daughter of Coccolina...however I am very happy with my black and white line. What's important is type, natural ability of the Breed, character and of course health, but that goes without saying.

Progressively more white on my line is all I hope for. It's difficult to go and to do progeny at a show with several different colors!

Thank you Anne Plomb, again for devoting herself to doing this work! It is greatly needed for the breed and not done so far. All of our old colors just came back, by chance when no one was expecting them. Problem is now, we are looking for them!

As a reminder of the Old Barbet line.
Enjoy.

Don't know what to think of it. envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 26/01/2012 @ 09:40
reviving wycliff poodle lineis a key word I found in my statistics, again.
Is someone working on it?

I don't know what to think of it.

However I have started working on data of the throwback poodles we have in the Barbet( and the just about pure ones, meaning poodles), which no one has done before...and their families and I would certainly appreciate photos to show lineage that dates back to the
1880's with the poodles not having changed a lot since then.

I have done the SWD thanks to their barrel like bodies, dense coat and eye color, harder to do the PWD, but, it's taking shape, thanks to coat colors.

Nver mind the IWS, as it is hushhush like the pedigrees that are wrong, were in 2007.

The symposium or Barbet meeting envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 25/01/2012 @ 18:22
http://www.cedia.fr/

If you link to Cedia, scroll down you will see the events.
Both are on the same day, so timing will be tight.

The Barbet meeting/ symposium is free.
BUT you must sign up.All dogs signed up will be reviewed.

The Club Specialty show is not free and you must sign up, also.
It is not an obligation to participate.

I have read there COULD be a TAN.
I haver not heard a doctor would be there to draw blood from Antagène. Certainly not for 3 dogs!( in 2009, a vet was supposed to show up, never did and a Barbet owner, vet accepted to do the work...)

The following day is another show that you can enter that has nothing to do with OUR club. It's a "normal" show.( It's not on Cedia, but probably will be on Cynoprint the other site where you sign up for shows.)

Please send your questions to Mrs Rault, that has now changed, but I would put Dr Geissant in copy, as for everything.

As I have said and am repeating, it will not be a free-for-all questions and answers off-the-cuff session. You haver things you want to know and get professionnal responses, this is the time. It's the first time and the last, probably.

People are working for the breed, please don't let the breed down, nor the people behind this. Thanks

PS this info will be moved to Rassemblement de Barbets under ABC

Another thought about males to stud. envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 24/01/2012 @ 20:53
Enough bad news recently about males that won't mate, Artificial Insemination and the same males used over and over again, does not make for a rare breed to survive. It certainly does make for money to be made by moneymakers who re-use males even too young to prove any worth, and claim ompetence in a rare breed. Lots of people love rare breeds for social status small talk..Billy the Kid being a victim.
I will not stop repeating what a real conscientious breeder knows. Does that mean that many are completely un-conscientious?

Genetic diversity? ?
