Last night was THE night for any
Barbet Lover in France ( or through TV5 monde) to be in front of his TV to watch the first Barbet ever in a TV film...or was it?
I'd love to say "yes", but...no. A Griffon Barbet Français made his début in a film in Hollywood in the 30's..YES. As told firsthand
by the daughter of M Le Houelleur, herself. M Le Houelleur of Floirac Barbets and Bloodline 1.
Remember, I visited with them in 2008? Lots of things to find out about that era still...
So, you can imagine how happy the Le Houelleur family was last night in front of their TV's...Déjà vu
? Yes...of course! It was like the madeleine de Proust
for some...who know what Barbet are supposed to look like.
Compay Segundo ( Compay II) is
the spittin' image of the Floirac Barbets from the 30's.
3 other little anectdotes:
My phone rang at 10:10 pm...one of Compays sisters' owners'was in her basket with Mum was watching the film...when Compay whined and ran down the corridor and barked* in the Chateau...her Barbet ran to the TV ( she never does that)and laid down in front of it.
At the same time, in Le Havre..Caya's ears started moving in all directions when he heard Compay and jumped up on his Mum's couch, which he never does...just read her email!
And right here, Compay walked over to the TV to see who was there and Chesara, his sister got up and came to me.." what's going on?"
I wish I had had my video rolling when it happened...
* Earlier in the film, it wasn't him whining and no one moved...
I was not expecting him to be seen so much. It was a very pleasant surprise.
