My team of Barbets en Bresse in the garden envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 16/09/2011 @ 09:36

At the top, on the right Grand-ma Coccolina ( Ermengarda) her daughter Golly Gee
Below her, Floirac Déjà Vue her grand-daughter and next to her her son Compay II ( father of Floirac) and on the right on the next tier:

French Lover and Grand-ma Thelma.

Missing from photo is Booly Wooly, probably in his bed, resting. Most of the others are with me whenever I do anything around the garden. Booly Wooly comes when he hears the word, "duck". Otherwise, forget it.( as in post below)

I am pretty proud of this photo and what it represents. Sometimes, it's nice to be proud of one's own work. Not many around patting you on the back.

Success doesn't just "happen" and it's not that easy....*I don't know how many out there can say that it is easy or even want to!

*Since a failed mating in 2004 with Mollymae, who refused Poppenspaler's Poil Armagnac and then, Thelma who was mated to a Canadian stud ( FrenchClub show winner, in 2005)and we found out he had turned sterile. Just before that, the( illegal, according to FCI rules and I didn't know because I trusted some who knew more than me) insemination of Mollymae with Lynx straws and the death of her 4 pups and hers in the same day due to?

Yes, I have been breeding since 2004 and not 2006 as I recently read somewhere about myself. When I look back, geeeez. I am a bit speechless. If I had known what I knew now? famous last words.Eh?
So, yes. I am proud.

French H 2o dog... envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 15/09/2011 @ 12:27
Internet translation tools are being used here and there for many reasons....Students often use them, thinking we teachers will never notice that the information makes absolutely no heads or tails!
This particular link is a very typical example.Enjoy!

The history of the Authentic Barbet I have written in French and has also been found out there in "webland".
I am writing it in English in a reader's digest version for most who may not be interested in the details.
I would like to add that the historical documents I use, I have access to them first hand, meaning first edition books and are not copied off an internet source. The information is not either taken out of context.

Fresh air! envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 14/09/2011 @ 20:33
Some( many/most) of you may have no idea how happy I am to be able to share information with people about the Barbet and my passion for the old breed. Some hog information and when asked, they don't know (or pretend) which makes me completely crazy.

I also love to delegate tasks and have never had a problem with it. I do not feel I need to withhold information. Quite the opposite!

When you think that in 2006,only 5 years ago, my Barbets en Bresse site went online and for a loooooooooooooong time I was the only one with such a big site, and I was updating it every day.

I am happy I don't have to do it as much anymore.Lots of sites are running. Some have not much to say. Others repeat what they found elsewhere. BUT the Barbet Old Bloodlines/ Vieux Barbet Français and modern Barbet are present in search engines. This proves the 2 exist.

I still have tons of information, but I don't feel I have to publish each and every day. It does give me a bit of an opportunity to smell my roses and breath.
AND take care of MY dogs.

More and more are understanding what I have been repeating and repeating ..........and repeating for several years and it does help to have a lot of support from very close friends and collaborators in several different countries.
Some call us a sect, others are jealous of how close we are and how much we share.hey...

You will soon have more information ( not even from me), but for now, have a look at the site below. I have laid the groundwork on a lot of stuff. others are building the foundations.Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
Feel the words and notice how they are used to talk about dogs and never people.

Filing a complaint for slander/ diffamation. envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 13/09/2011 @ 19:46
I may be the last one to know this, but apparently in France you can now file an official complaint in court, for slander. It has been on my mind for quite some time since there are 2 breeders( and more on a Barbet forum) who have delected in attacking what I have said and prouved, over the last years.Quite easy to do, really.
My name being repeated and repeated and spelt correctly.

A rose, is a rose, is a rose....a Barbet is a Barbet is a Barbet? envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 12/09/2011 @ 21:31

In 1935, this was a poodle. His name was Basket. Gertrude Stein is on the other end of the leash...A B Toklas and G Stein were walking down the street in the Bugey, an hour from here.I finally managed to find time to go see the exhibit. There are people there who still remember her and the dog!
Gertrude Stein also is the one who said: a rose is a rose is a rose and I decided to use it, by slightly modifying it. Aren't I creative and clever?!

In 1935, this was a Barbet. Her name was Hourie. Amazing how some things haven't changed!
If you look at a post below, the comparison is still the same.
A Vieux Barbet français and a French poodle!

And interstingly, here is a photo of Mellow and his ancestry. No Barbet in that dog!And yes there are still white poodles coming out 15 years later.

Bravo Barbets du Pré de redy for a success in Switzerland!'s club show envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 12/09/2011 @ 09:19
Apparently, a son of Ulysse di Barbochos Reiau de Prouvenco was best male yesterday. Bango has had a successful career in studding! There could be lots of Ulysses running around.
Kaya, also very Da Capo typed, won best puppy!

Am looking forward to seeing a complete list for the others!
