Help, please envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 01/01/2011 @ 20:52
From experience I know there are a few of you who can help me find out more about the Manet, [b]Douki, Chien Griffonand the tête de Barbet paintings, shown here. Any info on these paintings would be highly appreciated. I have the dates: 1875 1877
In the meantime, enjoy Arkann's New year greetings which remind me of the work of Manet! this came as a real coincidence...I had just located the Griffon by Mante. I had heard of the Barbet one by Manet, but had completely forgotten about it!

OK. Look at this dog envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 31/12/2010 @ 19:57
I was contacted by someone in Russia, yes, Russia...who sent me this photo and others. What do you think? I think this dog looks more like a Barbet than many we see here and there and especially everywhere. This person calls it a "hybrid".....I would like to have some more hybrids to use like this one. I don't want to contribute to F1 poodles...but this one were it still alive could be a wonderful T.I for many of us. What Alexander siad about the Barbet is that it is very confusing, because from country to country they never look the same. Different breeds completely? What would you say, eh? After all, JCH started with 2 mutts. On that happy note. Off to take care of what counts.
Forgot to mention the brown hue on the legs...very typical of Barbet line 2. de Camargue.

Un petit air de famille Barbet! Of Céline's litters being shipped here, there and everywhere, it's nice to see that there is some respect in the younger generations, for the "type" of Barbet that M Georgii worked on perpetrating throughout his Barbet days. This particular Barbet cannot be mistaken for anything else.Kudos, Helmie! I think it's just a bit sad to see how some Barbets are forced into overgroomed poodle-or-chow-statedom, and I am very relieved that neither M Georgii, nor Mrs Pêtre can see this. I won't tell them, either. Is the Chow an endangered breed?
Charly and co. and snow! envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 30/12/2010 @ 09:33
Charly de la serve de la Chapelle d'Alexandre and his playmates. Almost looks like a "Best of..." at a dogshow, except it rarely happens in France because the judges, very often have no clue what a Barbet is.
Then when you look at some websites around the Barbet world, it doesn't get any better.sigh.
