This document below was "apparently" written by the consensus of the club committee (even a blond will never believe it) . As you know, they, meaning the club, have no information or any archives on the Barbet, breed they are supposed to be helping survive from extinction.They have never bothered to worry about itand can't answer any real questions about it.
When they say the Barbet is a mix of several water dogs, somehow did they forget the lagotto? first breed of the club? I do think they did forget to mention the kitchen sink, and the Bobtail, old English sheepdog, when talking about the composition of their designer breed. Let's get real, guys.They innocent bystanders are being manipulated by someone. Guess. Yes, Your guess is as good as mine? someone who has changed her version of the Barbet history as often as she changes ...




Messieurs and Mesdames of the Committee( which we wonder when they even had a meeting to discuss this, which as usual they most likely didn't)put your glasses on and read the SCC LOF listing of Barbets that shows there were Barbets in 1970...and those descend from the 20's and 30's, whether bimbo likes it or not.
We can't expect you to know it all or even care, but...keep in mind:

There are conscientious breeders working with the little Barbet blood still in existence and working for the survival of the "old bloodlines" which you have obviously no clue of what they are, so don't wonder why there are fewer and fewer Barbet breeders and proprietors at the french club.With a small f.Shame on you, all.

In the Netherlands,Quaciendas Kontar Asjerah is doing well*, about a pound now. So we have good hope.
The names are African.
Kontar means: only child (unfortunately)
Asjerah means life tree. A tribute to Udine, who - with her litters - was the
foundation of the Dutch Barbets.

Now that it looks like there may be some hope for his survival, I would like to pay tribute to him and his owners. He may have a lot of weight on his shoulders but he may be the one who will be able to promote the old bloodlines of the Barbet.Not a poodle curl on his head!

I was recently reminded ( just in case I forgot ) that the "U" Barbochos de Reiau de Prouvenco litter was the purest Barbet blood there existed. Kontar's mom is Udine, sister to Ulyssia and Urgèle II in Sweden and Ursus in France and my Ulysse. I can hardly wait to put them together for a family photo. And yes, I'm capable of driving to the Netherlands to do it.
