Some of you may or may not even know about this litter born in Finland in May 2009...The male, Ulysse di Barbochos de Reiau de Prouvenco is Swiss of address, and after a first litter of 14 beautiful Barbet typed pups, was forbidden to reproduce ever again by the Swiss breeding committee as his coat is not "frizzy/frisé" enough for some ...
Well, he has the Barbochos characteristic curly coat that others of us want to keep in the Barbet bloodlines... which is his inheritance before "he" was re-incarnated into an "oodle".
The owner of Ulysse, was fined by the Swiss SKS after an official complaint was filed against her by the Swiss Barbet club Breeding commission.Yep.
The result was also that none of the pups could ever be registered in Switzerland...(good thing none were supposed to go there).
When the litter was born, it was all reserved quicker than you can shake a stick...
We're talking about a rare breed management based on solely the coat type. That is scandalous. You will soon hear about the interesting discussion about that took place* at the pseudo French CTE meeting last Sunday. Then, we know we have a problem...well we knew we did, it just confirms what is going on with lack of management of the breed by the country of origin and no scientific basis to say anything except heresay and games people play for power and recognition.
Also, I would like to say that not ALL the Swiss are to be condemned for what happened, some disagree but have no say so.
* no one can contest the discussion. I have it on MP3. Rememeber that.
