Just came back from the vet's with a dog suffering from a hot-spot on his thigh. It got red and pussy and he of course licked the hair off down to raw skin.This is the first time I have ever had this happen to any of my dogs as they have never had any type of skin problems or rashes anywhere( except some flakes, which were resolved rapidly with colza oil added in the food).
So anti-biotics for a few days.Cotizeme, Betadine shampooo on the area and a shot from the vet as it is very painful...poor thing.
And while I'm at it, just refound and re- read something interesting about thyroid problems. I have never had that either, and the article is saying it is quite common with poodles.
