Everyone arrived mid-morning, Barbets got to meet eachother and play. There were 12, 4 males and 8 females. Special guest was Grand Barbet Tiboubou, Booly Wooly's father. All the Barbets got along fine. Everyone got photographed by a well known canine photographer, including the photographer himself...We had lunch and the dogs had a biscuit hunt. After lunch, we convoyed to a pond in the middle of nowhere... where I was hoping we wouldn't find any ducks and alas..we found, or should I say, they found 1. Continued the photo shoot at the pond and came home to clean up the mess.

It was a great day, very hot and went by too fast, like all good things.

And special thanks to Brigitte who had driven up from Vaucluse with 2 pups...and had to drive home...with wet, kind-of stinky dogs in the back...Now I need to get the gunk out of mine.

Keep in mind that Booly Wooly was never shaved and never will be. He has only ever been trimmed( by moi). He cansee because the hair is thinner above the eyes. I used a special scissor and don't worry about him not being able to see, poor guy(guy) when there's a duck he caaaaaaan see it.I can tell you.

I don't think this photo is a secret to the "Barbet world". It has probably just been withheld for many( obvious) reasons.
One of which being, "what you don't know won't hurt you".

except that his mother is Rasta, a Spanish water dog.So this pedigree leaves to be desired.When I recently had my conversation with the SCC official at the Championship show in Paris, that didn't seem to bother him because there are false pedigrees in so many breeds that is is not really a big deal. What is important here is to look at the photo very closely and understand the objective.

You will notice that the Barbochos de Reiau de Prouvenco is a fawn color which Mrs Pêtre recently confirmed that Douma had produced fawn puppies so it was of no surprise to her that Ulysse di Barbochos de Reiau de Prouvenco had done the same.The ears are grayish black. Similar to the description of R'Lucky's color (on the official SCC document I have).

Then you will see that the morphology of the 2 dogs is similar and finally that the coat on the Barbochos is curly when short. Tight curls can only be short( Hera being an example).However, the standard says long coat and when short curls become long they unwind.

That is another reason for demanding transparency on the breed.
People who think they're working for the breed who don't have all the cards in their deck can't play the game.
So, taking a dog issue from a SWD and putting poodle on it without haveing re-dipped with Barbet before, is not helping the survival of the breed. Think about it. A Barbet without any Barbet blood is not a Barbet.
