Compay II and Booly Wooly in an Italian magazine! envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 12/07/2011 @ 19:24
20 years or so years ago, there was an article about the Barbet published in this same magazine. You will see Compay II and Booly Wooly again, p. 2 and p. 8 with some other furries.
We feel very honored!

When all is said and done envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 12/07/2011 @ 10:55

After the results of the 2 shows last week, it would appear that the schism between the 2 types of Barbet:
"moderne" ( re-incarnated with poodles in the 80's) and "authentic"
(those who have ancestry and Barbet blood traced back to the Le Houelleur/ Mas de la Chapelle and Barbochos Reiau de Prouvenco) is greater than ever and neither side wanting to do what the others are doing.

I had put Booly Wooly in "non-competing" as he is not what I want to show or to be known for ( yes, I know he could have done very well, but I am not interested in show results, but the survival of a breed).

I did not either go to the show to win with a bushy dry-coated dog that is an F1, barbet moderne type for my breeding regardless of whether the first judge said a barbet had a very dry, very curly (obviously)coat and did not take defaults into consideration only the coat, as instructed by the governing authority. He knows what about the breed? Not much...like many others.

It shows you how a judge and a club can kill a breed. I am not the first one to write these words...shame.

I would still be interested in reading all about the Barbet moderne line and how they can tell all of us about the work accomplished, lines, photos, selection?

Has anyone counted how many "très bon" were distributed? Well have a look and look at the pedigrees. Mighty, mighty interesting...

If I were forced to start making poodle looking dogs, I would decide to stop breeding.
When can all grow into the truth and just admit it? Is it possible?
It's not one way because "I" say so, regardless of who the "I" almighty is...documented facts or nothing. Many agree...in a democracy and when it involves adults.

This was a little gift I got at WDS...cute, eh?

Hurray Stacey..........and Paula envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 10/07/2011 @ 21:27

To make a long story short, I showed some of my dogs the first day til I got a major muscle cramp and had to hand over Thelma to Carmela to finish our turn in the ring. Then, Anne Plomb accepted to show my female (youth class)for me.

For WDS the next day, Paula kindly accepted to do my whole lot which is why you will not see me limping around and incapable to do anything.

Paula and Anne ( of course) definitely did better out there than I would have.....Thank you my dear friends!
More later...

Can we go home now? envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 09/07/2011 @ 21:05

These events are very hard on people and dogs and having to attend 2 shows in 2 days is a lot to ask of dogs.
They accept to do anything to make us happy, but at some point, enough is enough.

There were thousands of pictures taken and all the major winners will be posting their photos here there and everywhere. Our photos are not great and so I will do a different angle...people...

A lot talked, a lot didn't.You'll see!

We made it! envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 09/07/2011 @ 20:55

French Championship (Thursday) and WDS(Friday): Compay II came in Excellent 4th with 2 different judges: one who was told a barbet had a dry curly coat(never in a million years!!! ) and the second one who went to the Barbet moderne school of thought.
I thought we were doomed, seeing that there were a great majority of Barbet "moderne".

An authentic Barbet/ Old Bloodlines/ Vieux Barbet is much rarer that the Barbet "moderne" so...we all know the best is the rarest.

After 30 years, we are making our way up the ladder of thought!

Nice photo, eh...
