After the results of the 2 shows last week, it would appear that the schism between the 2 types of Barbet:
"moderne" ( re-incarnated with poodles in the 80's) and "authentic"
(those who have ancestry and Barbet blood traced back to the Le Houelleur/ Mas de la Chapelle and Barbochos Reiau de Prouvenco) is greater than ever and neither side wanting to do what the others are doing.
I had put Booly Wooly in "non-competing" as he is not what I want to show or to be known for ( yes, I know he could have done very well, but I am not interested in show results, but the survival of a breed).
I did not either go to the show to win with a bushy dry-coated dog that is an F1, barbet moderne type for my breeding regardless of whether the first judge said a barbet had a very dry, very curly (obviously)coat and did not take defaults into consideration only the coat, as instructed by the governing authority. He knows what about the breed? Not much...like many others.
It shows you how a judge and a club can kill a breed. I am not the first one to write these words...shame.
I would still be interested in reading all about the Barbet moderne line and how they can tell all of us about the work accomplished, lines, photos, selection?
Has anyone counted how many "très bon" were distributed? Well have a look and look at the pedigrees. Mighty, mighty interesting...
If I were forced to start making poodle looking dogs, I would decide to stop breeding.
When can all grow into the truth and just admit it? Is it possible?
It's not one way because "I" say so, regardless of who the "I"
almighty is...documented facts or nothing. Many agree...in a democracy and when it involves adults.
