Guess who? Son of a Coccolina and Guyguy. envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 20/01/2011 @ 07:56

I know, a couch potato... Can you guess who it is? You can see from the down position that it is a male. A stronger and bit longer body than a female. And since they don't shed, they are allowed on couches!

Absolutely amazing. envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 19/01/2011 @ 19:18
Scroll down and you'll see a poodle.

I have also found my missing link and that is a scale (size)for the Oudry 1729 "Barbet" paintings which turn out to be "diminutive poodles" , meaning TOY poodle.... the size of a rabbit.
Toy poodles have hardly changed in size over the centuries! Imagine many thinking the "Oudry" poodles ( petit barbet) are representative of how the breed is, wow.

That also confirms that the Grand Barbet is not any bigger than 55 cms.
Probably smaller. The grand Barbet has never been a shaved dog.It is a rustic sporting dog.
Buffon's measurements need to be converted...

This looks like an absolutely fabulous museum.Things have just about fallen into place.

Just in passing: about my 3 websites envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 18/01/2011 @ 08:01
As some of you may know, I am getting my sites re-organized. Lots of work due to lots of information, but necessary to do.

A bit like "wiki-leeks", (spelt wrong, I know). I had to prove the info existed and that there is lots more, when you open your eyes and look for it.

The point here is that after 5 years of "sharing" truths and facts with you, I think a majority of people have got the message about what a Barbet/French Water Dog, is and has been historically: an old French rustic long-coated, not overgroomed-hunting breed, who swims fabulously well and is a wonderful companion and that those who still don't understand, never will. The Barbet is a special breed who deserves special care, tender loving care from people who love the breed. The French breed is still hanging by a thread as it has been since the 1940's when it became almost extinct.BUT it's hanging in there(the U-Barbochos litter being the purest Barbets in existence)and that we are protecting their existence where they are, meaning the 2 males are reproducing.

It now time to move on. The dogs are starting to speak for themselves.
That's called survival.......

A bit of humour...check out the other photos on the site!

Thank you for your support.

Happy new year from Switzerland envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 18/01/2011 @ 07:52

FunFunFun, aka Plüsch deep, but not too deep in the Swiss snow.

Another happy little Barbet that we don't see very often, who is doing well!

Diablo au ski... envoyé par Elaine Fichter le 17/01/2011 @ 19:22

Colleen and her daughter Gaia

In 2010, Colleen de la serve de la Chapelle d'Alexandre is the one who had the most pups of any litter of Barbets. You won't have heard about it til recently as her litter was never advertised on the club website when the pups were made available, but she in the end did contribute to the statistics.

I am of course, very happy and proud to share my "production's" "production" especially when they are so homogenous and look the way I am happy with.
